'DESIGNIACS'!

Grade 3 through 6: Two hours

After learning about what makes planes tick (and fly!), students use their imagination to design and build their own aircraft. Then, we test stability with crash tests ?Äì it's a wild exercise to encourage action planning, group decisions, communication and creativity.

Design and problem solving has been integral to aviation from the very beginning. How do you get something big and heavy up in the air?

This program lights up the creative juices in students as we explore designing and building different types of airplanes. In teams, students design their own planes before building, and eventually, crash-testing their planes.

Students learn about design, problem solving, materials, flight - all in a creative atmosphere!
