2005 - CHRONOLOGY OF THE SEARCH

In 2005, the search began with common start-up problems and a morning of WOW (Waiting on Weather). After a late afternoon start, they imaged our Ghost less than one hour after dropping the fish in the water.

A shore search found evidence of a camp, but the Pulse 8 metal detector failed, so the team could not investigate further. This is deferred to the 2006 operation.

Tales from the sky

Commercial sidescan sonar and ROV video images brought in by McQuest Marine Science show that after it slipped beneath the waves sometime during spring breakup in 1932, it settled intact on the bottom with minimal damage. After over 70 years, (only) the fabric is gone.
